Guard Your Grin

Ritebite Orthodontics’ mouthguard program is a non-profit, community service created to reduce the risk of injury to the lips, mouth and teeth during athletic competition. Ritebite Orthodontics uses the highest levels of dental fabrication to create custom mouthguards. We fabricate pressure laminated mouthguards which provide the highest level of dental fit to result in greater comfort and better protection.

If you are a patient, Ritebite Orthodontics will provide a complimentary custom-made Ritebite mouthguard when your braces are removed. We want you to protect that winning smile! And even if you are not a current orthodontic patient, our office continues to make custom-made mouthguards for all local sports associations and children of all ages at an affordable price.

Why Mouthguards?

We are encouraging kids to play it safe and consistently wear mouthguards and other protective gear during competitions and practices. Anyone, including a child with braces, who participates in a sport that carries a risk of contact to the face should wear a mouthguard.

We want to ensure that orthodontic patients, and their teammates, are properly protected from sports related injuries to the jaw and mouth. These injuries can become costly as they may require a lifetime of repair and maintenance.

SPORTS SAFETY FACTS:

Despite all the risks, many kids are still not wearing mouthguards and facial protection during sporting competitions and practices. Injuries can happen at any age or skill level and occur no matter what sport you are engaging in.

Parents, coaches and kids need to understand the prevalence of sports injuries and know that many sports injuries can be reduced or prevented by wearing the proper protective gear.

What Makes Our Mouthguards Different?

There are currently three types of mouthguards available. The Boil and Bite mouthguards are relatively inexpensive and convenient to buy, but they do not provide adequate protection. It is almost impossible to achieve a good fit and they tend to wear out much quicker than those that are custom made.

The Vacuum Forward custom mouthguards provide increased protection compared to the Boil and Bite method. They allow the athlete to breath and speak easily but are less protective than the Pressure Laminated mouthguards.

Pressure Laminated custom mouthguards represent leading-edge technology in custom protection. Each mouthguard is produced by pressure-forming multiple layers, shaped separately over a customized mold of the athlete’s teeth. With controlled thickness offering protection in areas where it’s needed most, our mouthguards also offer superb durability with a tight, comfortable fit.
